Liam grew up in Ireland, where he learned the electrician and mechanic trade firsthand from his father. He spent his early years fixing tractors, lawnmowers, and various agricultural equipment, developing a deep understanding of machinery and a strong work ethic. From a young age, Liam dreamed of establishing a small business where he could apply his skills and provide quality service to others.

Driven by his passion for the trade, when moved to Australia, Liam  pursued a career in the field, working for a renowned high-tech industrial equipment and solution company where he honed his expertise in mechanical and electrical systems. With his qualifications and decades of hands-on experience, he became a trusted expert in advanced lifting equipment, automated solutions, and digital technologies to improve operational efficiency. His expertise took him across the globe, training teams of technicians and sharing his in-depth knowledge, further reinforcing his commitment to excellence in the field.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Owen inherited the same passion for mechanics, specializing as a marine mechanic with a natural talent for fixing engines. Their shared love for mechanical and electrical work, combined with a passion for boats and the ocean, fueled Liam’s long-time dream of starting a business. With a unified vision and a commitment to precision craftsmanship, Liam and Owen brought that dream to life by founding Local Engineering together, making Owen the third generation of O’Connell’s to carry on the family trade.
